Varicocele repair in the era of ART

WHO 2010 guidelines for semen evaluation suggest a TMSC of 9 million atleast for a natural pregnancy.  A large meta analysis of over 1000 patients evaluating impact of varicocele repair on ART outcome in OLigospermia and azoospermia has shown men who have surgery are 1.7 times more likely to have a pregnancy as compared to men who did not have surgery. Varicocele surgery can have a significant impact on fertility outcome and can upgrade couples from iui or ivf to more natural pregnancy options.

Newest device for sperm preparation technique from Israel based on principle of swim up and migration sedimentation. Avoids centrifugation of sperm to avoid generation of Reactive Oxygen Species. ROS reduces success rates of IUI and IVF both so we try to avoid it as much as possible. They advise you need to add Rs 1500 per patient for this sperm prep.It's basically a heating block like swim up. The depth of the media chamber is less than that of the native sperm sample chamber.
